Maryam Alsuwaidi is an Emirati research assistant at the Marine Microbiomics Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi.

She was the first student to graduate from Khalifa University with a double major in Biomedical Engineering and Cell and Molecular Biology.

Her undergraduate research experience included the molecular effects of camel milk proteins on cell signaling pathways and involved whole-genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of marine turtles along the UAE coast to support their conservation.

Maryam enjoys working at the intersection of scientific disciplines, where engineering, biology and all its fields, and molecular sciences come together to answer complex questions.

Through her work in marine microbiomics, she hopes to contribute to advancing research in the UAE and help drive efforts toward a more sustainable future.
